In March 2008, a group of Polish parents got together and started a learning group for young children. At first, all the children gathered as one group in private homes and libraries. As the number of children increased, they were divided into preschool and school groups.
In addition to regular classes, the school held additional events such as a meeting with Santa, excursions to the zoo, train trips, Christmas performances, a carnival ball, or an Easter egg hunt.
The structure of the school has also changed over the years. Currently, the school offers classes for students of all grades. Students in ten age groups learn to read, write and speak Polish. They study Polish history and geography, as well as Polish culture and traditions. Children who do not speak Polish learn Polish as a second language.
To popularize Polish traditions and customs, we organize several events for the wider Polish community every year. These include a meeting with Santa, an Easter egg hunt, Christmas performances, fall camping, or Constitution Day celebrations. We organize a Polish Bilingual Day on our campus.
The school works closely with Polish organizations. We are members of the West Coast Polish Teachers’ Forum. Our students have the opportunity to participate in online classes on Polish history.
Our Polish school has excellent, qualified and friendly teachers for whom Polish is their native language. Since we opened our doors, more than 60 teachers have contributed to passing on the knowledge of Polish language and culture to future generations. Most of our teachers have received their pedagogical education in Poland and have many years of teaching experience. All our teachers are subject to a reputation check.
