Dear parents,

For each year of elementary school, always at the beginning of the school year, you will receive an overview of the lesson content, the skills your child should have by the end of the school year, and the materials and workbooks used in the grade level.

The priorities are for the entire school year, but the timeline is not fixed.

In general, our work is guided by the following criteria:

Individualization

We support children on their individual learning path, taking into account their respective developmental level. In this way, we develop their personality and independence. Therefore, children can work at their own pace and with different materials.

Differentiated learning opportunities and teaching methods help:

Continuous independent work on plans, in workshops and on projects in individual, partner or group work.

Individualization means that tasks and some topics are worked on by individual children at different times and that children stay on some tasks longer, while other children can work with more complex materials.

Cross-curricular learning

Workshop tasks cover a wide range of forms of exercise: they support reading and writing learning, challenge with selected math questions, convey subject content, offer concentration and comprehension exercises, and cover art and music topics. The tasks are differentiated so that children with different skills can work on tasks at their own level. We, the teachers, play a consultative role during the workshop stages to help children find their own way of learning.

The individualization of this lesson and the differentiated degree of difficulty ensure that children are encouraged – and challenged – where they are in the learning process. In addition, children are given responsibility by being “helper children” for various tasks. In this way they learn to take responsibility, gain self-confidence and become independent.

The learning content of the different subjects can be seen in their context so that children’s interests and experiences can be taken into account.

Teaching and learning materials

To best support each child on their individual learning path, we set high standards in the choice of teaching and learning materials used. For each subject, the school has working groups that jointly develop lesson plans and workshops. The selection of appropriate materials for our lessons is of particular importance. Therefore, the working groups develop criteria that good teaching materials should meet. For each subject, the teachers carefully check whether the material is suitable for our purposes. Only then will it be proposed to a conference of specialists and purchased for the children. A critical review of the materials used takes place annually.
